Active Living and Exercise Services

Active living is an important part of a healthy lifestyle. Here at the PCN, we offer a number of different active living and exercise services.

Classes

Classes at are led by an Exercise Specialist and will increase your knowledge of active living and exercise.

Introduction to Physical Activity

Learn how active living and exercise can both be part of a physically active lifestyle. Understand how to use a pedometer to check your current level of activity and what opportunities you may have to increase your physical activity level.

Exercise Initial Appointment

A one-on-one appointment with an Exercise Specialist at the PCN. They will review your health history, perform a physical evaluation and work with you to develop a plan based on your health goals.

Supervised Exercise

Eight weeks (two days a week) of individually tailored exercise training at a City of Edmonton Recreation Centre under the guidance and supervision of an Exercise Specialist.

Learn to apply technique for a range of cardiovascular, resistance, flexibility and physical literacy exercises, how to check and change your exercise difficulty, how to organize your exercise sessions and how to progress your program.

Individual Appointments

One-on-one or small-group appointments at the Primary Care Network or a City of Edmonton Fitness Centre or Pool with an Exercise Specialist to help you safely and effectively start and progress your home, gym or pool-based exercise program.

This service is offered at Northgate Centre and Rundle Health Centre

Services at Northgate Centre require a referral from your family doctor, who is a member of the PCN.
Services at Rundle Health Centre are available to you if you have a T5W postal code. You do not require a referral. You can either call or walk in to book an appointment.
