At the Edmonton North PCN, we offer a number of classes to help you meet your health goals. All of the classes below do not require a referral and you can call us at 780.473.7131 to register.
Classes are offered virtually and in-person. In-person classes are held at the Edmonton Community Health Hub North, located at 13211 Fort Road. All virtual groups are held via Zoom, an online platform that can be accessed from your smartphone, tablet or desktop.
All classes here are open for anyone to register for. No need for a referral from your family doctor. To register:

This interactive program helps adolescents identify the symptoms related to anxiety and teaches them ways to cope using physical movement, nutrition, and practical strategies to challenge anxious thoughts.
This program is for teens 13-17 years of age. The first evening, Thursday February 9 is a MANDATORY parent information night where one or both parents will accompany their child(ren) to the program. The remaining five weeks is for the teens only, no parents.

Anxiety to Calm is for anyone aged 18 or older who:
You will learn ways to help you manage your anxiety, challenge your thoughts, behaviours and emotions and improve your lifestyle.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) teaches participants to identify and change unhealthy thinking habits into better alternatives that promote desirable behaviours and eliminate unwanted ones.
You will learn strategies that will help manage symptoms of anxiety and depression.

This interactive program helps parents and children identify the symptoms related to anxiety and teaches them ways to cope using physical movement, nutrition, and practical strategies to challenge anxious thoughts.
This class is for children 6-12 years of age. A parent, or both parents MUST attend along with their child(ren) for the full six-week duration of the program. (Parents can alternate attendance i.e. mom can come one week and dad the next etc).
This class is a six-week program and each class is an hour and 15 minutes. Parents can download reference materials for this click here.
In this class, you will learn skills that will help you to respond to your emotions rather than react to them. The facilitators will help you understand the relationship between emotions, thoughts, and behaviours. There will also be practical learnings for: emotional regulation, coping skills, mindfulness, and relationship skills.
Developed using the principles of Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, participants will be shown techniques to practice at home in between classes.

Learn how to make lifestyle changes and add new habits into your everyday life to boost your overall happiness. Taking Happiness Basics has been shown to increase mood, increase energy levels, and boost physical and mental health.

This two hour class gives you information on how healthy eating can manage blood sugars. You will learn how to balance different types of food to help manage blood sugars. This class is facilitated by one of our dietitians and answers many questions around diabetes including meal timing and portion sizes.

If you’ve struggled with being on diets in the past, have frequent food cravings or often feel uncomfortable in your body, this class could be for you. The introductory class offers you a different non-diet approach so that you may better understand why you eat the way you do.
You’ll be given tools to help increase a feeling of control over food and satisfaction with eating. The class is designed to give you a different perspective on weight loss with an overall goal of helping you feel at peace with your body. At the end of the two hour class, you’ll have an opportunity to book into the longer eight week program.

In this two hour class, participants will learn the health risks related to having pre-diabetes or diabetes as well as healthy lifestyle changes they can make to better manage their blood sugars.

Moving on with Persistent Pain is an eight week group (once weekly), led by an Exercise Specialist and a Behavioural Health Consultant. Learn ways to manage pain including planning your activities to improve stamina and energy while preventing flare up; exploring the relationship between anxiety and stress and pain levels; learning to set goals to change your lifestyle and decrease pain.

This class is a two-hour, free class that will teach and assist participants in completing a personal directive and enduring power of attorney. A personal directive is a legal document you make in case you cannot make your own personal decisions in the future. An enduring power of attorney is a legal document that you make to give another person the authority to make financial decisions on your behalf.

Relationships in Motion is for anyone who wants to learn skills and strategies to improve their relationships – family, personal, or work.

This two hour class gives you information about how the body’s digestive system works so that you’ll learn how to space out your meals and include a balance of nutrients to help you feel full and energized until the next meal time. This class covers many popular nutrition and food myths; if you have questions about what to eat or how much to eat, this class could be for you. You’ll leave the class with a better understanding of how to fuel your body to meet your nutrient needs.
